Distant Land, Op. 154

by David Lee Grossman

/

about

A piano prelude written for left hand alone. The melodic aspect of the piece is based around the ascending minor third and then descending major third (F#-A, A-F#).

I strained my right hand one day in 8th grade while I was playing a pick-up game of basketball during lunch, and my piano teacher at the time gave me a contemporary nocturne for left hand to play at my lesson. Ever since then, I've wanted to write a piano piece for left hand.

Finished 1/8/2016. Audio created with Finale 2012 and Garritan instruments (GPO 4).
