Legacy Op. 59

by David Lee Grossman

/

about

A short orchestral piece for symphonic orchestra. Many people who have heard this piece say that it would be appropriate as the opening theme for an awards show. The piece opens with a fanfare, which is repeated at the end, and features three sections.

The first section is a march, with the melody played by the trumpets. The horns then add a countermelody, before playing the melody and leading into the second section. The second section is much more lyrical, with the horns and violins playing the melody and then repeating the melody going into the third section. The third section features the countermelody of the first section by the first trumpet, while the melody, again march-like but more lyrical than the first theme, is played by the horns and clarinet. The ending is a variation of the fanfare from the beginning.

This piece, recorded using Finale 2012 and Garritan Personal Orchestra 4, was finished on July 17th, 2012.
