A Christmas Toast

from Choral by David Lee Grossman

/

about

A new Christmas carol with the sound of a traditional four-part carol. The fourth verse is an optional verse, more appropriate for a church service than general caroling, and an alternate chorus is also provided for that verse.

Music finished 4/4/2014, lyrics finished 4/15/2014. Audio created with Finale 2012 and Garritan instruments and mixed with Audacity.

lyrics

Welcome all both far and nearing,
Fill your cup with Christmas cheering;
Come one and all, do not delay;
Gather round and let us sing.

Here's a toast to all our loved ones,
Here's a toast to all we pray.
Peace and love be with you always,
On this joyous Christmas day.

Take a sip for friends and fam'ly,
Be they here or thought of fondly;
Come one and all, do not be coy;
Join in a cup of Christmas joy.

Here's a toast to all our loved ones,
Here's a toast to all we pray.
Peace and love be with you always,
On this joyous Christmas day.

Toast with us a warming wassail,
Join the merry, Christmas bustle;
Now to your neighbors, glasses high,
Fill it again lest it go dry.

Here's a toast to all our loved ones,
Here's a toast to all we pray.
Peace and love be with you always,
On this joyous Christmas day.

Let us not forget our Jesus,
From the bonds of sin He freed us;
He that in a manger lay,
Born to us this Christmas day.

Here's a toast to all our loved ones,
Here's a toast to all we pray.
Peace and love be with you always,
On this joyous Christmas day.
