Long Ago on Christmas Day

from Choral by David Lee Grossman

/

about

A piece inspired by the Alfred Burt carols, scored for SATB unaccompanied choir.

lyrics

Long ago on Christmas Day, a star above gave rest to say,
A little boy below was born, for all to see that Christmas Morn,

A stable was the only place, to welcome Jesus full of grace.
The Wise Men came from far away, so long ago that Christmas Day.

Angels gathered all around, the tiny boy he made no sound.
He lay in peace upon the hay, the three wise Kings will guide His way.

Time has passed but still there's joy, for all to wonder and enjoy.
The world has changed, it lets us know, that Jesus listens, friend or foe.

Stories come and go sometimes,
His words may seem between the lines.
But he can give us truth and peace,
To father, mother, brother and niece.

He can give us truth and peace, give us truth and peace.

So this tale has long been told, another day within His fold.
His birth may give us heart this day, tomorrow let us sing Him praise.

His birth may give us heart this day, tomorrow let us sing Him praise.

Let us sing Him praise.
