Spanish Fantasy, Op. 75 [Live]

from Senior Recital by David Lee Grossman

/

about

One of my mother’s favorite genres of music, as well as her favorite instrument, is the classical guitar – especially when playing Spanish classical music. Although, when I wrote this piece, I had never thought I would write a classical guitar piece or a Spanish classical piece, I have always enjoyed listening to the Spanish classical guitar composers, especially Rodrigo and Tárrega.

Prior to writing this piece, I listened to a lot of Spanish guitar music, the effects of which are clearly present in this work.

Of note is the fact that this piece, according to the guitarist, is almost like an etude in that it highlights many different techniques of Spanish guitar music in its almost five-minute length.
